I know it's hard to believe at this time of year. I mean, the weather pundits in Toronto promise a return to hot-and-humid for the weekend! Nevertheless, the Yuletide mods ([community profile] yuletide_admin) have already opened nominations.

I plan to nominate Forever Knight, of course. Probably Nick, Natalie, Janette, and LaCroix—those being the characters most likely to be requested by people who aren't the ardent fans some of us are. However, in my opinion, the more characters the better. It would certainly be good to be able to request fanfic focusing on Nick's partners or the Season 3 vampires.

So ... do please consider nominating FK. If you do, leave a note here so that people don't duplicate your noms. (Dupes won't count, and mean a lost opportunity to add someone different.)

Nominations will close on 21 September. At that point the mods will clean up the tag set, removing duplicates and correcting spelling errors. Sign-ups run 10 to 21 October.

For those unfamiliar, Yuletide is one of the oldest—and certainly the biggest—of the panfandom gift exchanges. Specifically, it's an exchange for "small fandoms", defined as those with fewer than 1000 stories that are complete, in English, and over 1K in length on AO3 and/or Fanfiction.net. This means that the large but ancient FK collection is not counted towards the numbers, which in turn means that FK is eligible.

Of course, we have our own gift exchange; but that runs in the summer. Yuletide reveals on Christmas Day. So, for anyone feeling a bit FK-deprived at this time of year, do please consider taking part.

Nominations: For Yuletide, one is permitted to nominate up to three fandoms, with up to four characters per fandom. You do this here on AO3. Right at the moment, you can't see what other people have nominated. However, the tag set will be open well before sign-ups take place.

Sign-ups: You request at least three fandoms and offer to write in at least four. The mods will then match you with someone who wants one of the fandoms you offered to write. You write them a story that has at least 1K words.

More details are available at the Yuletide community, or ask me here.
