Rarelywritten (sob!)
I've just defaulted on my
rarelywritten assignment. It's something I've been debating for the last couple of days; and I hate to do it. I've never defaulted in an exchange before; and its seems like such an admission of failure. On the other hand, after a lot of thought, I decided it's the fairest thing to do. I just feel so damned tired.
Perhaps next week inspiration will come, energy will return, and I'll write a treat. (I hope so.)
This way, though, I can at least be sure that my recipient will get her just and proper present, even if it has to come from a trusty pinch-hitter.

Good luck continuing to get better!

I'm certainly improved over this time last week; but I'm still very tired and sleep a lot. Some coughing, and the tinnitus is persistent. However, I am finally audible again, albeit in rather subdued tones. (This is a great relief to my mother, who's a bit hard of hearing and found it very frustrating that I could only really converse with her by writing things down.)
The really good news is that she clearly only had a minor head cold, and is practically over it. I was so scared she might catch the pneumonia: at her age, it would be quite desperately serious—far worse than for me.

(I went back and forth when composing that reply; I originally wrote that I didn't think the deadline had passed yet. Then I looked at the calendar... so close to the due date now!)
Yep, as serious as pneumonia can be for anyone, it's critical for anyone with other vulnerabilities. Good luck to you both in getting well, with the different illnesses!
