Yuletide nominations are now open!
Yuletide is now open for nominating fandoms. (Yippee!) This means, of course, that I now definitely have to decide what I'm going to put in the form.
I asked earlier whether other people were planning on nominating Forever Knight. I intend to do so myself; and
foxy11814 has also offered, though not, I gather, planning to participate. It would be really nice if some third person also chipped in—all that's needed is to be on AO3, which is true of everyone who did
fkficfest this year.
Now, you may be wondering why Forever Knight needs more nominations.
As a fandom, of course, it doesn't: once one person has asked for it, then it's in. (At least, it's "in" assuming it's approved, as it has been in previous years). However, one is only permitted to nominate four characters. Four characters per nominator, that is. If there are two nominators, they can name up to eight characters. If there are three nominators, they can name up to twelve. And, as we all know, Forever Knight has a lot of characters, since the line-up changed each season.
Why is this important?
Well, when it comes time for people to put in prompts for their gift, they can pick up to four fandoms. (Yes, you can only nominate three, but you may ask for four.) It is quite possible, therefore, that someone who did not nominate Forever Knight might nevertheless ask for it. Indeed, this has happened most years. However, they are only permitted to mention characters who are on the nomination list. It is important that this list have the characters most likely to have broad appeal, since they're the ones most likely to inspire prompts.
So we have Nick, Natalie, Lacroix, Janette, Schanke, Tracy, Vachon.... As you can see, we're already up to seven!
Now, I'd like to request Amanda Cohen. I also have a soft spot for Feliks Twist. If
foxy11814 does make a nomination, we can cover eight. If someone else nominates Forever Knight (and, as I said, it doesn't have to be someone who plans to do Yuletide this year), we can get four more characters in: maybe the other captains, or Urs, or Screed, or Divia, or.... (Well, there's plenty of choice.)
Since
foxy11814 has asked for instructions on nominating (and others may need it too), I'm putting them here:
After you're done, please come back and tell us who you nominated. That way, we can avoid duplications. (Duplicate names don't count, you see.)
And THANK YOU!

1. First, of course, you have to decide what/who you're going to nominate. Then you go to the nominations page.(Mind you, it is possible that a friend might have asked you to nominate some other fandom for hir, in which case you'll fill the boxes for Fandom 2 and/or Fandom 3 before hitting "Submit")
2. Scroll down a little to where it says, "Tag Nominations". Just under that is "Fandom 1", with a box beside it. Type "Forever Knight" into the box. (No quotation marks, of course.)
3. Immediately underneath are four more boxes, each labelled "Character". In each one, enter the name of a character.
4. Scroll down to the bottom of the page. On the far right, there is a little "Submit" button. Hit it.
And you're done.
After you're done, please come back and tell us who you nominated. That way, we can avoid duplications. (Duplicate names don't count, you see.)

If only a third fan were here, we could get Janette in, too. Ah, well.
What other fandom(s) have you nominated/are thinking of nominating? Masters of the Universe?

What other fandoms might you nominate/ write for? Just curious.

I've already nominated my other main fandom: Mary Renault's novel, The Charioteer (approved, with all four characters). However, that only leaves me with one slot—and two possibles.
I'm going eeny-meeny at the moment, and it keeps coming out different.
One possibility is the third fandom I nominated last year, Prehistoric Park (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Prehistoric_Park). (That link is to the Wikipedia article.) It's a six-part British "mockumentary" in which time-travelling paleontologists go into prehistory to bring back extinct animals for a wildlife park where they plan eventually to breed them. One episode they went back to the Ice Age and returned with, among other things, a mammoth. In other episodes, they visited the Cretaceous for assorted dinosaurs. Part of each episode involved the time journeys; part was set back at the park as they received the "newcomers", housed them, and dealt with problems—with a measure of continuity across the series. Alas, it never had a second season.
The other possibility is Time Team RPF (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Time_Team). Time Team is a long-running British documentary series in which a group of archæologists (a core group, and assorted associates) do three-day digs in places that usually haven't been excavated before—sometimes places that no one would expect would permit it, such as the grounds of Salisbury Cathedral or the Inns of Court. This is real archaeology: sometimes they find things that are genuinely important. (Sometimes the dig is a dud. You don't know until you watch the show.) Anyway, what I'd like to ask for is a behind-the-scenes making -of-an-episode type of story. Definitely gen.
Probably, whichever one I nominate, I won't get a story for it. These are fandoms of miniscule proportions. Prehistoric Park does have some (bad) fic on ff.net; but the only Time Team story I know of is a Stargate SG-1 crossover.
Yuletide is, though, the one time when you can nominate the eensy-teensiest of fandoms and keep your fingers crossed with genuine hope.

Anyway, I wish you luck on someone picking one of these two since they seem the most improbable!

Are you going to put in a third nomination?
